Wikinomics

Wiki - A page that can be contributed to and edited by a variety of users.
Nomics - (short for economics).
Wikinomics - Gaining money for a wiki.

  1. Peering - this is the act of sharing things on the internet for free. Although this wouldn't seem to profit anyone, it can do indirectly. For example, YouTube can contribute to the financial gain of musicians, by convincing their audience to purchase the music. Someone must make money somewhere.
  2. Free Creativity - this is similar to peering, except that the thing that is shared it created by the sharer. Prosumers - sites where people create their own stuff, and has a link to profit. SoundCloud, although the music has a creative commons licence.
  3. Democratized - when peering and free creativity is available to ordinary people and not just people in the higher classes (in the past, not everyone had access to the internet). SoundCloud and YouTube - you can share and create.
  4. Thinking Globally - connecting the world! Like, YouTube.
  5. The Perfect Storm - Social networking sites are examples of this, like Facebook, for example!
